Our patch

Eight states. One region we know by name.

Most operators sell you the same Shillong to Dawki loop. We plan across the whole Northeast, and we will tell you plainly which of these is right for your dates.

MeghalayaTrips live

Living root bridges, Dawki's glass-clear Umngot, waterfall country

Permit states need an Inner Line Permit. We arrange it as part of your trip.
Before you book anything

When should you actually go?

The Northeast is not one destination, it is twelve. Most operators show you monsoon photographs and sell you a winter trip. Pick a month and we will tell you what it really delivers, including what it does not.

PrimeGoodTrade-offs

October

Post-monsoon15 to 26°C

Arguably the best all-round month. You get green valleys and clear air at the same time, which is rare here.

At its best

  • Green landscape with post-monsoon clarity
  • Waterfalls still respectable
  • Crisp air and long views
  • Trails drying out

Not this month

  • Kaziranga may not be fully open early in the month
  • Umngot clarity still building

What is on

  • Durga Puja and Dussehra across the region
Free, and we will talk you out of the wrong month.

Why us

Book with a generalist and you get a template

The big platforms sell the Northeast as one more line on a list of forty destinations. We do this region and very little else.

We only build custom

No fixed departures, no template you get slotted into. Your route is drawn around your dates, your pace and what you actually want to see.

Stays you cannot book online

The Khasi family homestays at Nongriat and Mawlynnong take phone bookings only. That is exactly why they are worth having, and why we hold the numbers.

We will talk you out of it

If your dates are wrong for what you want, we say so before you pay. A December trip sold on monsoon waterfall photos is how trust dies.

Booked a 6 day Meghalaya trip for seven family members. Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki and Mawlynnong were all covered at a comfortable pace. The driver was careful and friendly and the homestays were warm. The Dawki boat ride on the crystal river was unforgettable. Highly recommen…

We wanted an offbeat honeymoon and Meghalaya delivered. Camping by the Umngot river, the misty Cherrapunji gorge and the living root bridges were magical. The planning was thoughtful and the pricing transparent with no hidden charges. A unique, beautiful trip.

The questions we get every week

Answered properly, not in sales language. If yours is not here, ask and you will get a real reply from a person.

What is the best time to visit Meghalaya?
October to April is the best overall window, with clear skies, pleasant weather and the Umngot river at Dawki at its crystal-clear best. June to September is peak monsoon, when the waterfalls are at their most powerful but treks get slippery and the river turns muddy. Many travellers love the dramatic, misty monsoon mood despite the rain.
How many days do I need for Meghalaya?
A solid Meghalaya trip needs 5 to 6 days to cover Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki and Mawlynnong without rushing. Add a day or two if you want to trek to the double-decker root bridge at Nongriat or explore offbeat spots in the Jaintia Hills. We pace it so you are not driving all day.
How do I reach Meghalaya?
The usual gateway is Guwahati in Assam, which has the nearest major airport and railhead. From Guwahati it is a scenic 3 to 4 hour drive to Shillong. Shillong also has a small airport at Umroi with limited flights. We arrange comfortable private transfers for the whole trip.
Is the living root bridge trek hard?
The trek to the double-decker root bridge at Nongriat involves roughly 3,000 stone steps down and the same back up, so it is genuinely strenuous and takes most people a full day. Reasonable fitness and good shoes are important. The single-decker root bridge at Riwai near Mawlynnong is far easier and family-friendly.
Is Dawki river really that clear?
Yes, in the dry season. From roughly November to April the Umngot river at Dawki runs glass-clear and boats appear to float on air. During and just after the monsoon the river can be muddy and high, so time your visit for winter if the clear water is your priority.
How much does a Meghalaya trip cost?
A 5 to 6 day Meghalaya package typically starts around 14,000 to 22,000 rupees per person on twin sharing, depending on season, hotels and how much ground you cover. Because distances and local transport add up, we send a clear, itemised quote so there are no surprises.
