Kashmir Trip Cost: A Realistic Budget Breakdown
· 2 min read · By Tripsiana Team

One of the first questions every traveller asks is simple: what does a Kashmir trip cost? The honest answer is that it scales with your season, your hotel category and whether you want extras like a houseboat or wazwan dinner. Here is a realistic, itemised breakdown for a typical 5 to 6 day trip, so you can budget with confidence.
The Short Answer
For a 5 to 6 day Kashmir trip, excluding flights, expect roughly:
- Budget: ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 per person
- Mid-range: ₹18,000 to ₹28,000 per person
- Premium: ₹30,000 and up per person
These assume two people sharing. Solo travel costs more per head, and larger groups bring the per-person cost down.
Where the Money Goes
Flights
Return flights to Srinagar from Delhi typically run ₹6,000 to ₹12,000, and from southern cities like Bengaluru or Chennai ₹10,000 to ₹18,000, depending on how early you book. Booking three to four weeks ahead makes a real difference.
Accommodation
- Budget hotels and guesthouses: ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 per night
- Mid-range hotels: ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 per night
- Houseboats on Dal Lake: ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 per night depending on category
- Premium and luxury: ₹8,000 and up per night
We recommend at least one houseboat night for the experience.
Transport
A private cab with driver for the full circuit usually costs ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 per day, shared across your group. This covers Srinagar sightseeing and day trips to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg.
Note: At Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, local union taxis and pony rides for the final stretches are charged separately and in cash. Budget ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 per spot.
Activities
- Shikara ride: ₹600 to ₹800 per hour per boat
- Gulmarg Gondola: around ₹740 for phase 1 and ₹950 for phase 2 per person
- Pony rides and local taxis: ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 per location
Food
If meals are not included, budget ₹500 to ₹1,000 per person per day for regular dining. A traditional wazwan feast is a special-occasion splurge worth planning for.
How to Save Without Cutting Corners
- Travel in shoulder season (late September or November) for lower hotel rates and fewer crowds
- Book flights early, this is usually the single biggest cost
- Share a private cab with your group rather than booking point to point taxis
- Do one houseboat night, not the whole trip, to balance experience and cost
- Shop at certified outlets so you pay fair prices for pashmina and saffron
What a Package Includes
A typical Tripsiana package bundles accommodation, private transport, sightseeing and breakfast into one transparent, itemised quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for with no surprises on the ground. Flights are usually quoted separately so you can use your own miles or preferred airline.
